Ghazi 0 Posted January 21, 2007 I have a dvi gv-1480, i which i am trying to bring all the 16 wires from the drop cleaning above my office. now i need a suggestion. instead of bring all 16 wires, can i get a dvi dual extention wire 10 feet long for $20.00, plug it behind my dvr card and run it up to the ceiling, and connect all those 16 wires up in the ceiling. no mess behing the computer. would it drop the quality a whole lot? or if any? please advise
curtley 0 Posted January 24, 2007 why dont you use the Composite out on the back of the monitor to send the video to another screen? or are you try to extend the keyboard and video and mouse as well?
CollinR 0 Posted January 24, 2007 It's $20, try it. I would think the worst that could happen is it not work, I also think those are straight through cables too. I mean they have 15 pin HD15 adapters that do nada but change the plug. Heck it wouldn't suprise me if you couldn't put one of those DVI>VGA adapters on the card and use a non-DVI pigtail. Never tried it but I never saw the benfit of using a DVI board anyway.
Ghazi 0 Posted January 28, 2007 http://www.provantage.com/startech-dviidmf10~7STRT0JK.htm this is what i used to extent the dvi from the back of the dvr card, to the ceiling, and some cameras start to flicker, if i take this extension out, then they are fine
