schwazche 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I've played with other WM5 applications that allow camera views on my cellphone but haven't jumped on the Geovision bandwagon as of yet. One thing I really want is good quality full-motion video on my Cingular 8525 UMTS/HSDPA phone. The download speeds are better than 1.5 Mbps when I'm in a highspeed coverage area. Has anyone used G-View with an 8525? Or perhaps had any experience with G-View on a high-speed (EVDO like) WM5 phone? I'd also like to hear if there is something better for remote (WM5) viewing before I make the purchase of my in-home PC-based DVR card. Thanks in advance! 501 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I have a UT Stracom and when connected to EVDO, the new Gview V2 provides a very clear and smooth video for a cell phone. I was really quite impressed. There is even play back which works great too. My phone runs Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a touch screen (It's also known as the PPC6700)
RichTJ99 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I wonder if Gview 2 is any better than Gview (aside from Native 240x240 support)? Is Geovision Vista compatible or will we need to buy another card to upgrade to the Vista compatible Geovision 8.
schwazche 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Thanks for the reply 501. HTC makes your PPC6700 as well as my Cingular 8525 (both are based on the HTC Apache core design) Your post has pretty much decided Geovision will be the way to go. Are you able to use the touchscreen for anything such as PTZ control or camera selection? Again, thanks! Schwazche
rory 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Well for Vista, I think you will need to buy a different PC right? When I get a copy of vista I'll try out an Nlite skimmed down version, But i think XP is slow as it is for a DVR, unless its tweaked right out .. not sure how much they will let us Tweak Vista yet though .. As to the phone, we dont have that technology here yet.
501 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Gview V2 is far superior to the Old Version. The video is much much better quality and much more fluid. The is a choice of CIF or QCIF and hi/med/low for quality. At high quality CIF, its actually quite clear, although lower quality streams faster. You can change cams and control PTZ's from the touch screen, its awesome, you can even turn on and off recording if wanted. We just did a customers site with a PTZ and showing someone how you can control a camera in a another part of the country from your phone is pretty mind blowing to some people. The playback is also awesome.
rory 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Dont laugh but I tried to get GView on a pocket PC someone gave me and the pocket PC wont accept .exe files .. am i missing something? I havent had any more time to mess with it since the initial download and test but no other exe's would work on the pocket PC also .. its Pocket PC 2003, and an Ipaq. It only accepts Cab files .. also ActiveX or Java will not work .. Rory
501 0 Posted February 7, 2007 You run the exe to install it on your local machine which then adds it in the next time you sync it. The when you sync it, the program will install.
rory 0 Posted February 7, 2007 they didn't give me anything to sync it with .. oh well BTW i've never used a pocket PC before as you can tell ..
