jrheuman 0 Posted February 8, 2007 I apologize for my ignorence, but CCTV is not my expertise. I am doing the low voltage installation on my new home and I want to pre-wire for color day/night video cameras. I will be running RG6 to each installation, but I am unsure of what gauge wire I should run for electricity. The runs will be a max of 125 feet. I will be using a modulator to see the cameras around the house. Can I also hook to a old TIVO and small TV to record and put on loop? THANKS
rory 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Hi Dont use RG6, get a roll of Siamese RG59 / 18awg Cable. This will be Coax Copper in and out and solid center, and it should have at least 18 gauge power cable. The better cable is not in the same jacket (as some are), but instead 2 cables joined together (true Siamese). Good luck. Rory
jrheuman 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Where is the best place to get the Simese cable?
rory 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Closest place you can to where you reside, due to the weight. There are many online stores also, just make sure it is not cheap cable, that tends to be the bad stuff sometimes. Optionally the forum's advertisers (the online stores) will be able to provide it also.
