rory 0 Posted July 23, 2004 Lower End 16 channel DVRs:: Provideo: ======= Embedded Linux. Good DVR with CDRW, but no real remote network software. Local monitor output quality is not great, but a recorded video on the CDR played on the PC is good quality, similar to Kalatel/DM. Simple to use. CDR is a plus. Plays back from the CDR also in the DVR. Price: $1200. HiSharp: ====== Embedded RTOS. Good quality local image and remote video image. Remote video software is easy to use, but very limited, basically not no features, and remote search is very bad, does not work most of the time, properly. Good price: $1000, 120GB HDD. Only save as Jpeg, this is its downflaw. Needs a CDR or at least to save video. Real time live display is a plus, 30pps recording on 16 channels a con. Price: $1000. -------------------------------------------------- So, in the $1000 price range for an embedded DVR, if these units were both put together would have a nice unit with CDR and good quality local and remote video. Both need better network software or at least a SDK or COM. Anyone else got links to a DVR with CDR, embedded, in this price range, available in the US.
