aureliano 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Hello to all again... What do you think - what DVR or NVR system would be the best for a roughly 1200 cameras CCTV system, memory retention minimum 30 days? Roughly - budget is of around $300K. Location - USA.
phred 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Obvious answer is 'a very large one' It would help if you gave some more specifics like- how many fps at what resolution preferred compression codec Any 'must have' features
aureliano 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Number of fps would be various since about 25% of these cameras shall be covering a Casino (thus need for more fps). No preferred codec.
phred 0 Posted March 7, 2007 (edited) OK. so your requirements cover everything from the very demanding casino to the very modest bank vault. You also mention NVR and DVR so I guess you have a mixture of analogue and IP. No company imo has the best recording solution of-the-shelf for all situations. Choosing the right codec for each task is important. Jpeg2000 still offers the sharpest image quality but requires many times the storage capacity of H.264. Considering your storage requirement, getting this wrong could break your budget. Edited March 26, 2007 by Guest
survtech 0 Posted March 21, 2007 1200 cameras with 30-day retention? I doubt if you'll find anything in your price range, especially if you have to meet NIGC MICS or other requirements for frame rates. The absolute minimum you will pay for an Enterprise-level system with those capabilities will be approximately $400(+) per channel, not counting network, viewstation, software and connection costs. This makes the total at least 1/2 million. A good 1200 channel system would set you back well over a million, depending on storage requirements.
rikky 0 Posted March 22, 2007 If you've got that number of cameras you'll definitely need to have the hardware and software to cope with these. Therefore only choose for the big ones, like Verint, Indigo, Visiowave, Nice, .... who are able to handle this.
kake 0 Posted March 22, 2007 March Networks has a NVR that will do both Analog and IP plus they've got something called R5 VOS that sounds like it was made for your solution. It again handle Analog and IP but stores everything in a central location. I've never seen the VOS in action though; just read about it on ther web site but I do have lots of their NVRs out in the field and they perform great. Central Management allows me to offer a health monitoring service to my customers and boy do I love getting this extra money each month
