4 Channel DVR, Archive to NAS (Network Attached Storage)

Recommended Posts

I currently have an Everfocus EDSR440H and I am looking to upgrade. The remote viewing over IE is ok but the DVR has frozen a couple times in the past month. Is the new EDR410H any better? Is it quieter? I would love a DVR that could auto archive to my NAS and let me view video on my computer instead of the TV.

Thanks,

Jimmy

Geovision should support NAS.

You'll have to wait a few months for a decent standalone system with NAS support. Asian manufacturers just recently began implementing this to their newly released models.

There have actually been nas capable standalones for quite awhile. There isnt much to it once you are connected to the internet how hard is it to set up a pc to record a video stream via the internet. Heck guys have been recording live porn over the internet for years.

NAS advantage is not about recording the footage through an internet connection, but a good way to keep your storage safe or hidden, and having additional local backup.

In my opinion it is also a great way to integrate IP cameras with dvr's, as they can both push their footage to the NAS device, and then be able to playback all on the dvr or remote client.

Recording a stream of proprietry dvr video format on a PC is not as simple as recording streaming Windows media/Real/QuickTime foramts, and with those porn movies you sure got more motivation for doing it...

loop has it down. I would like the standalone DVR to auto archive to my NAS say every 2 weeks or month. Once the hard drive on my standalone is full and before it rewrites itself. The hunt continues........
