cctv_down_under 0 Posted March 22, 2007 I didnt mind the GE standalones, but I just saw too many failures with their cameras to warrant using them constantly.
mcs 0 Posted March 22, 2007 BTW-Is Bosch the actual manufacturer of their cameras? ... Made in Portguay Assembled in Germany- Samsung are just as good, Ever tried the 1/2" Low light 740 Superb. Replacing a stak of Ganz cams with 730's (1/3") and 740's Stack Samsung cams with Geovision, you have the best CCTV system around.
rikky 0 Posted March 22, 2007 [[Rory is right the GE dvrs are nice units, but they don't make their cameras...]] Normicgander, what do you mean by GE doesn't make their camera's. Which company does manufacture their cam's?
normicgander 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Hello rikky, They OEM them from Korea I believe. But they do produce the DVRs in the US. MCS- I'll check out the 740. Thanks
rikky 0 Posted March 24, 2007 I thought they had there own manufacturing plant, of the company which was bought by GE, namely the Kampro brand. So I'd wonder why they would do OEM when having own manufacturing.
normicgander 0 Posted March 25, 2007 Ok, so GE purchased a company called Kampro, who manufactures GE labeled cameras. I'll take you at your word. This should completely change anyone's field installation experience relative to the quality of GE cameras, GEs willingness to address actual field problems and product issues and their overall applied engineering, testing and technical support programs. GE Kampro is on the job.
normicgander 0 Posted March 25, 2007 Rikky, You're correct- my source info was wrong. Security Sales & Itegration: August 2003 GE Interlogix Acquires MAS, Kampro in Short Timeframe http://www.securitysales.com/t_inside.aspx?action=article&StoryID=1298 normic
rory 0 Posted March 29, 2007 GE has its own manufacturing plants for its cameras, in Asia. The current camplus cameras were available with the same exact specs and design before this purchase. BTW they use the Pixem chip in the Cmos Ultraview camera ..
