Avoiding monitor burn-in?

Hi,

 

Is it possible to avoid monitor burn in with a fixed camera running 24 hrs a day?

 

(Pls. ignore the phrase "PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) capabilites.">" in the above sentence. I have no idea where it comes from. I didn't write it. it just appeared. Weird).

 

Here are the spes if that will help answer the question:

I am not a professional - just a home user.

 

The TV that I am using for a monitor got burn-in from the text display fro each camera. I eventually removed the text because I know that camera 1 is pointing at my driveway .

 

The other thing I did was to move the entire camera system into a closet with a lockbox, so the monitor is no on all the time - just when I was to interact with the DVR itself. Everythign else I do remotely. Every TV in the house is capable of switching to the CCTV channel with a press of a button so there isn't any real need to have a monitor sitting there on all the time.

 

Most of the interaction withthe DVR is through my main study computer that has a TV capture card, so no burn-in issues there either.

great name you have and thanks for the reply. Our set-ups are very different.

 

This is just a basic camera outside the front door wired to a monitor that is just inside the front door. The camera is not going to anything else.

It's not worth it for most of my installs like that, basically to kill burn in on a single cam system like that you need to move the image around on the display. Those features only come on displays of several thousand dollars. Usually you can just replace a cheapo LCD a couple few times before you get into a thousand dollars much less several.

 

13" is pretty good sized but most don't have troubles with 8" if it's a look before you open situation.

I would suggest that you take the camera's name off the screen. If the PTZ is moving around, it should not create screen burn. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Thanks
