Sarah Geldard 0 Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Does anyone know if a hard drive removed from this system can be played via software on a PC, either internal or via USB/Firewire connection, or will it only play on a dedicated machine? Thanks Edited April 5, 2007 by Guest
phred 0 Posted March 20, 2007 (edited) No knowledge of this exact model but others I have seen in the Samsung SHR range (RTOS, mpeg 4) will not allow you to read the drive directly in a PC. Disks use a different format and files are encrypted – I think each machine has a unique code. On those I have seen, you can output a converted AVI or view files on a connected PC, but that is it. eric 0 Posted March 23, 2007 For the most part you would have to have what is called a hard drive bay reader to do something like that. Remember that if you place a hard drive into any computer you would have to reformat it or format it for the first time before the computer interacts with it. The Hard drive bay reader would be an external "docking port" that would connect to your PC by USB.
