rikky 0 Posted March 20, 2007 Got a special request for a customer willing to see 1km away. Some 'googling' showed me the Extreme GVS1000. Do you guys have any interesting experiences or alternatives for such a project. Thanks,
WirelessEye 0 Posted March 20, 2007 I hope your customer has deep pockets (and long arms). I have seen this system demo'd at trade shows, and it is amazing (and the camera window is bulletproof-- literally). The only downside of course is that it costs tens of thousands of dollars and your lights will dim when those illuminators turn on, but every silver lining has a cloud right? There is an Israeli company that sells a system that is actually better (at least I think). The system is 35k for the camera which uses a high power IR Laser that is focusable for extremely long range illumination-- further than the Extreme CCTV system. If I can remember the name of the company I'll post it.
phred 0 Posted March 20, 2007 Nice little covert job here http://www.roundshot.ch/xml_1/internet/de/application/d438/d925/f934.cfm Just being silly. But if you use something high res you can drop the spec on the lens and get wider coverage at the same time.

marzsit 0 Posted April 29, 2007 Take "telescope" add board type cameraand you can read licence plate from far away I was able to read from about 800 meters without any problem c-mount adapters for 35mm photo lenses are readily available, as are 1000mm mto and rubinar telephoto mirror lenses (russian made) the combo works very well for long-distance work for not too much $$
IRCCTV 0 Posted May 7, 2010 Hello GVS1000 used to be the best long range camera available was made by Extreme CCTV. The GVS1000 is now a 5 year old product and uses outdated LED technology. If you need over 500M of active IR I suggest Ascendent Technology Group. http://www.ascendentgroup.com/ Ascendent Sigma is better then Bosch GVS1000- for 6 main reasons. 1) Longer Range: Ascendent offer up to 8km (Bosch 1.2km) 2) Better illumination: Ascendent uses lasers for wider angle and greater distance.) 3) Lasts longer Bosch GVS1000 2000 hours (x700) Ascendent 10,000 hours (500% longer) 4) Technology Bosch uses outdated LED technology Ascendent uses ZLID Zoom laser IR diodes 5) Better Pan-Tilt-Zoom GVS1000up to 8 degrees a second Sigma offer 60 degrees 6) Better price Ascendent is up to 15% less then Bosch for triple the distance!!! Bosch GVS1000 2.5 degrees up to 1000m Ascendent sigma offers .5~16 degrees up to 3km. triple the distance and and up to 8X wider angle and 3 times the distance Cost of ownership: GVS1000 uses 2 x700 illuminators last only 2,000 hours Ascendents Sigma ZLID lasts 10,000 hours 500% longer If you are looking at long range Active IR Ascendent Technology Group is the Best company: Sigma Series Day night PTZ Integrated laser illumination (200m~3km in complete darkness) Ascendent's Zoom Laser IR Diode modules combine laser diode, technology, quality optics and sophisticated electronics to provide invisible IR illumination at extreme ranges. Ascendent's LIDZ technology synchronizes IR intensity and area illumination with motorized zoom for flawless active IR performance, absolutely eliminating over exposure and hotspots. When teamed together dual ASC- LIR4000M illuminate up to 10km classification level performance in complete darkness when paired with with Ascendent’s imaging equipment. By using Laser technology that unlike traditional IR LED's give both distance and wide angle illumination to offer active IR performance up to 10km and up to with 17 degrees of illumination. Not only does Ascnedent's ZLID offer superior illumination, and greater distance but also has an IR lifetime of 10,000 hours (up to 5x the leading competitor) making it the clear choice for military and homeland security.
