Low cost 'Quad' processor off e-bay

Recommended Posts

I picked up a cheapo 'Quad' processor to evaluate it off od e-bay. The current item number is; 250096441522 (the same thing is listed with other sellers).

Question is; anyone know exactly who makes this and if they have a web site? There is no name on the box or the unit itself. It seems to work k, though the video level is low (.84vp-p) and a slight roll off at 4.5 MHz.

There are two other versions of this. A four channel and a "Mini-Quad" without the 232 port. This one is 8 channel.

It does have a "Techwell TW2824Q" chip which is the model number of the circuit board. The address is: 'techwellinc dot com' (since I can't post links).

No one has comments on this?

Ok then, two questions;

1. Can anyone recomend a low cost Quad processor without the DVR?

2. Or is it better (even if no DVR is needed to get a DVR without any HDDs' just for the processor?

1. I don't get many requests for quads so take mine with a grain of salt... I have heard Everplex has a some decent low cost quads.

2. Most DVRs that I have dealt with (PC based) don't natively come with quad output. For Geovision specifically a quad output is a several hundred dollar option. I don't even think Avermedia has a quad output option but I'm not sure. I would definately keep going on the route you are on, if you need a quad output just look at quads.

What kind of display? I think this will probably be the killer, if you use nice displays they can show off the flaws in quads/cameras/everything. This really shouldn't be the case anymore, with a quad that had a component video out you should have a 1:1 pixel map on 4 640*480 feeds displayed on a 1280*960 HD display. This would really be pretty sweet but I haven't seen a quad that has that kinda output.
