"Smoked Dome" effect

Does anyone know if using a smoked dome significantly alters the ability of a camera to acquire low light. Would you be better off in a low light area with a clear dome? Thanks.

smokes bulbs loose normally about 1/2 to 1 complete F stop!

So if low light sensitivity is needed, best is to go for a clear bubble.

worst thing you can do is add tint to a low light app ..

Thanks for the quick replies. Would you think there would be a significant difference in a f1.6 vs a f1.2 or 1.4 lens when using in a low light area?

Yes quite a difference, but it depends on the cameras sensitivity also. And actually i would look at the fujinon f:0.95 lens for a low light color app.

Ditto but I think something like 12mm caps that out. (PLEASE let me know if I'm wrong. )

 

Also the wider the lense the more light it generally lets through, you are better off getting closer and using 6mm rather then being easy and using 50mm.

OK that vari-focal fujinon f:.095 lense is for 1/3". I need 1/2" or 2/3". Thanks again for the replies.

yeah it will be a f:1.4-1.6 anyway for a 5-50mm lens.
