Rude-e 0 Posted April 12, 2007 I have a customer which we have installed a Hi-res IP camera (IQ eye 703) that goes over a Inscape Data wireless ethernet connection to a dedicated server, we are currently using the willing web cam software to capture images every 15 minutes on a schedule. The software then compiles it into a windows media player film. The problem we have is that the program has a 2 gig file (which means that it will only record for three days) Then it writes to a diffrent file name when it reaches this limit. Is there anyway to compile these into a single DVD time-lapse movie? Is there any other software out there that could give us what we need, a single file or timelapse of the video? The customer would also like to get an updated image on their website as well. The current set-up has not been completely reliable. I am looking for a diffrent software or server at the moment. MegaPixelPete 0 Posted May 3, 2007 Hello Rude-e... Just wondering how your time lapse project turned out... and wanted to share our plans for comments by the experts on the forum... We are currently setting up a similar project for a facility demolition / rebuild. The project sponsor wants a broadcast quality time lapse DVD of the entire process (1 year +). We'll be using an AXIS 223M Megapixel IP camera storing 1 - 10 Frames Per Second for 12 hours per day at 1600 x 1200 resolution. The plan is to use Microsofts Media Encoder 9 software to encode video to a file on a 720 gig hard drive, transfering the file every month or two for editing at a local home video studio. The PC is fairly robust and the only box on this mini ethernet. I have all components (PC, Switch, Camera, Housing) all plugged into an APC UPS to keep power clean and stable. I've never used WME9 before this project and have been bench testing it for several days. It seems fairly stable... Anyone else doing projects like this or care to comment on my proposed set-up? Thanks for helping the newbie...
securitymonster 0 Posted May 4, 2007 10 fps @ 1600x1200 @ 12 Hours Day on 720gb for one month seems far fetched... Just wondering if you are getting this information from manufacturers, tests, calculators, etc? PS - I'm not arguing, just inquiring
MegaPixelPete 0 Posted May 4, 2007 Actually 10 fps would be pushing it, wouldn't it... Since i've posted that info the sponsors have agreed to a more realistic target of 1 frame per minute at 800 x 600 resolution. That should reduce the data storage needs substantially. I am however still looking for the best software for this type of application... any sugestions? Something that is robust enough to run without issue for months and has scheduling capabilities built in that will allow us to record for the specified hours of operation (6am - 6pm, Mon - Fri)... Thanks. All feedback is appreciated.
