Reighn328 0 Posted May 8, 2007 I'm brand new t CCTV installation and am beginning my first install in a couple of days. I'm using 12VDC/24VAC external housings with heater and blower and cameras with a power consumption of 5.3 watts. Is it necessary to run separate power to each one or can I simply bridge off the camera to power the housing? Thank you very much.
CollinR 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Yo can usually daisy chain the 24VAC to the heater. I haven't seen a 12VDC heated housing so make sure you are prepared.

galen 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Well this has come up for me recently. If you look on the fan, it will be 12 volts most likely. The heater could be either. The little board in the housing will convert your 24 volts to 12 volts for the fan. Just make sure you supply the camera with 24 volts if its 24. A lot of box cameras are dual voltage. And auto sensing. But then some cameras are specific on what voltage is supplied. Don't burn the camera up by just assuming.
