Arockerdude 0 Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) Just Picked up an e-GeForce 8600 GT. To go with my Geovision 800. The guy at Fry's said it is the only card they have that is Windows Vista Ready. I wanted an ATI but he said Ati was not going to come out with their version of the Windows Vista ready card till later this year. He said If I didn't get the e-GForce and I decided to upgrade to Windows Vista later I would need to purchase a video card all over again that was Windows Vista ready. If I wanted Windows Vista to be able to perform to its full potential. What do you guys think? Did I make the right choice getting this card? Or would you have purchased a different video card? The guy at Fry's said just bring it back if If I didn't like it. So I can always exchange it. Thanks for the help. Dave Here are the specs. http://www.evga.com/products/ Edited May 10, 2007 by Guest
CameraGenius 0 Posted May 10, 2007 overkill for the gv800 i think, also depends if your going to be running vista 32 bit or 64 bit to which video card you "have" to get......I am running vista 32 bit with a 7900gs and everything works fine
Arockerdude 0 Posted May 10, 2007 I only use one computer for all. So it will be used for other things as well. I guess the real question is. For $200 Would you have bought something else? Dave
CameraGenius 0 Posted May 11, 2007 I paid $140 for my Nvidia brand 7900GS the first day there were released so yeah I would have probably bought something else........but that's besides the point, it is usually better to not do anything else with your security system other than do the recording of cameras unless this is more of a hobby you are taking on than needs for security
