bike_rider 0 Posted May 15, 2007 I went to install my GV-NETIO and discovered that I don't have an RS-232 port. (Darn modern equipment.) The obvious solution is to get a USB->RS-232 device. Has anyone done this? Anything weird I should watch out for? Thanks
CameraGenius 0 Posted May 15, 2007 you don't have any serial ports?? you could always get a pci serial card I also have customers that have used a usb to serial adaptor and did not run into any problems

Not many people use them anymore, so I wasn't completely surprised that this MB didn't have any. I'm low on PCI slots, so I'll go with the adapter. Newegg has some cheap. CollinR 0 Posted May 15, 2007 IIRC the GVHub fixes this for you as well, it's more $ then a USB>232 adapter though.
smarty 0 Posted May 17, 2007 I was in the same situation with my new PC. I have heard that some of the USB to serial devices can be a bit flakey. However, I have found that my Keyspan usb to serial adapter works A-OK with my GV-Net I/O card. Here is the adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812999081
