paranoid 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi all, Long time since posting and good to see the forum is still going strong Well since my last post I have sold my gv800 due to the fact that I no longer wanted to rely on a pc and sold my baxall (ge board) dvr due to the fact that it had no motion detect. I still have my spider friendly cams though. I have just installed an Averdigi eb1304 net and after a nitemare trying to work out why the unit was locking me out I am very upset to find no user selectable motion grid, like my geovision had. This has rendered the dvr useless to me as I have trees and bushes in all 4 areas. Does anyone have experience with this unit ? It is sold under the headline of "latest motion detection technology" and I would expect a grid for that. I was also hoping to access all of the units controls via the network but this doesnt seem possible with any of the programs supplied. Any help ? Cheers
paranoid 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Hi, Well I have to say that this appears to have been a mistake Poor motion detection No motion grid, motion detection without a grid (mask) is a bit pointless imho Lower quality files than geo No pre-record buffer Not enough overall control Searching recorded files via network too slow Im hoping some of the other avermedia owners might come along with some suggestions as to how I can get more from this unit ? Thanks Mick
kateoh_99 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Looks like you are comparing apples to oranges here.. A more comparable unit to the GV800 would probably be the NV3000 or NV5000 from AVermedia. With that said, with the cost savings, we've never had much complaints from our clients on some of the shortcomings of the EB1304NETs (no motion grid setting, etc). It basically does it's job for the price and ease of setup (no XP OS to fiddle around with, less headache in terms of tech support on issues not related to the DVR!) For remote playback and control of the unit, you need to connect to the unit (after you set it up properly via DHCP or static IP) via Internet Explorer. Have you checked out the manual for more setup information? Also there are more recent firmware that you probably need to upgrade the unit (this is another thing I like about the unit which is the ability to upgrade the firmware entirely through the Internet). Also the other pluses are the ability to view/record/playback multiple EB1304NETs through the central monitoring software - CM3000. Just my 2cents..... paranoid 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for the reply. My biggest gripe is the advertising of this unit "latest motion detection technology" which is misleading and not quite true. Yes im connected via dhcp both wireless and wired and im not happy with the time it takes to view files remotely. Ive already updated the firmware and tried all of the software but still unimpressed overall. A workaround would be to have "always on" recording with motion detection at the same time, this would make it easier to search for events and also have the whole event recorded. The motion detection is glitchy and on testing it has prooved to miss half the events, tested by myself with repeated walktesting in the exact same zones. The software only has 1 real use and that is for remote viewing, the other parts of the software dont mean much as there is little to control on the unit. If avermedia come up with a motion mask firmware update or dual motion / full time recording feature then I would be reasonably happy. Thanks
