Panasonic WJ-HD300 Series Extract Recording from Hard Disk

Recommended Posts

I have installed Panasonic WJ-HD300 series DVR, now I need to extract what it records by connecting its Hard disk to a PC.

Does anybody have any experience of doing so and knowledge about the file system it use to record on HDD.

Regards,

Yes, you can use your Plextor.

My Plextor (ConverteX, Model PX-M402U) came with two move making programs. One program was included with the Plextor installation software called (Inter Video Win DVD Creator.) The other program that came in the package is called, (Video Studio * SE DVD) by Ulead.

I use the S-Video out, located on the front panel of the WJ-HD316, to the S-Video connector on the Plextor. Then I use one of the for mentioned programs to capture the video.

By using the Plextor, you can copy as much live or recorded video, as you want, to your computer with no time or size limitation..

You can also capture live or recorded video directly to a regular VCR by using the RCA Jacks located on the front panel as well.

Thanks for information, but let me rephrase my question.

Recording was done with WJ-HD316A, the hard disk drive has been removed from WJ-HD316A and connected to PC.

Now need to know what file format "WJ-HD316A" use to record?

Is it Linux ext3 or some other file system.

Sorry, we are discussing this subject between two different threads which may add confusion. However, I think the answer is the same. If I understand correctly, you have removed the Panasonic 300 series (formatted HDD) and connected it to your computer somehow?

As for the file format Panasonic uses, I don’t know. Maybe Panasonic support will tell you but, I doubt it.

The way I see the copy options according to the manual are,

(1) Copy the selected files via LAN or WAN. As described in the network manual.

(2) Copy the selected files via the unit itself as described in the user manual.

(3) Copy the selected files using a Plextor or its equal. Not explained in the manual.

i dont think that your going to be able to play that info without having the dvr connected to the hard drive.

I am not sure as I have not tried that. but would assume. Have you tried contacting pansonics tech support?

[ Have you tried contacting pansonics tech support?

Panasonic has the most premadona support, they make you beg for the little tidbits they give you and they are rude.

at first i thought so to. But after getting to know them you find out that they are extremely helpful and actually care about you getting your issue fixed. They are only a crew of 4 people.

Call and ask for Aran Sacks who leads the support department or John to help you. They are really good guys who will do anything in their power to help you out.
