dachub 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Hello - I am expanding my IT business to cover some basic CCTV systems. Is there a standard brand of DVR that CCTV pro's stick to? Currently im looking at the cheaper end of the market. Option for networking and 4 camera's. What name comes to the top for most? Any advice would be great! Dave. scorpion 0 Posted May 29, 2007 This is a very difficult question to answer. I would say it depends more on your customers than anything else. If they are budget oriented than I would say that this would be the decision maker. If you are installing in the corporate world than I would say the H.264 DVR is what I would aim for. The common advice from everyone seams to be to stick with the American companies. You will tend to spend more, but you have "local" feedback, tech support, parts, and distribution. Nothing is more frustrating than sending a DVR back to Taiwan, or China and having to wait for a replacement. I would need more information in reqards to which DVR to select from. Casinos are completely differnet than entry level residential markets. Will you be using PTZ, keyboards, multiplexors, and integration? dachub 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Hi thanks for your reply. At the moment im being asked about very small simple installs for small business to monitor thier reception and front door etc. 1-4 cameras max. As im new to CCTV I would stick to simple systems until I have some experience/work. PTZ etc probably not required at this stage. Remote view via web is on the list as well as good value for money! I'm based in the UK so not sure sticking to American brands makes any difference here. The Avermedia systems seem to come up alot on the web - any good? Thanks. Dave. kangtree 0 Posted May 31, 2007 it can support: 1~4ch max per card support record support remote viewing and some other basic function of digital surveillance system. but there something not so good,the software cannot amend you can try other software compression card such as 7130 or 23881 chipsets...they are also cheap...but they are original ones... Avermedia? it depends on your cost. hoho~~ many mjpeg ones are very cheap,we have one 4ch standalone sells only 95$...it works well. but we also have other h.264 hardware ones,cost is over 450$... The AVtech product is about the best price point for these kind of jobs I'm based in the UK so not sure sticking to American brands makes any difference here. The Avermedia systems seem to come up alot on the web - any good? it depends on how your business is set up IE if you want to sell a standalone you need less support so perhaps moving away from PCI cards is better...but if you have the ability to provide support then PCI cards are good and the best value is indeed Aver or Geo Does it take the same to order from US and China No US is more expensive but better quality control those pico is the cheapest one,i think i would not use these unless you are aware of the inherrant support risks Im planning on using a standalone DVR not a PC capture card solution.
