Guerrilla Marketing means to draw attention to yourself spending other peoples money, (leagally). Guerrilla Marketing means to draw attention to yourself by thinking outside of the box. _______________________________________________________ Advertising without spending money. You can standout side of your business holding up a sign, made out of magic marker, and cardboard, or you can have one made with vinyl lettering. You can go door to door knocking on doors. You can have people refer customers to you. You can ask your customers "is there anyone else you know that can benefit from a video surveillance system? Using other people's money. Have you ever seen a story in the newspaper such as: Chinese New Year. There is a picture of chef Wong from Wong's Scorpion Buffet. In the news story, Chef Wong teaches us how to make a traditional chinese dinner. This did not cost Wong's Scorpion Buffet any money!!! People will see this article in the Food section of the newspaper, and they might want to try this restaurant! Hey! I just advertised SCORPION twice for FREE! THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX! A lot of things done to advertise a business started out as a really "wild" idea. How about the first time someone dressed up in a costume to advertise their business? The first time someone strung up balloons all over their business? Advertising in video games is thinking outside the box in the traditional sense of advertising. I was renting some tools in the late 1980s while I was working on my teen club. I heard the guys talking about this new weird device that they had. They were just waiting for the first customer to rent it so that they could see how it worked. This thing was wild!!! It was a road side sign that you could actually type your own words!!! LANE CHANGE AHEAD. DETOUR HERE. ETC. I asked how much it cost to rent, and then my hair stood up on end!! OUCH! These guys wanted to see it work, and I wanted to rent it so they gave me a break on the rent. I put the sign next to the roadside in my parking lot of the teen club! CLUB METRO TEEN CLUB LADIES FREE. I was on a very busy road and a lot of people saw this sign before I ever opened for business!! Do not be impressed! I used Radio Shack strobe lights, red/blue revolving police lights, a mirror ball, amps, and rdo shk speakers, and I had a 6 foot track lights in each corner of the dance floor with color gells over the lights. I had a wooden box that had buttons that you had to manually push for the "light show". We were the hit of the town!!! It got so wild that we had to hire 6 off duty police officers because everyone came from Orlando! This is an hours drive from us!!!!! Talk about money hand over fist. What made this work? We were the first to play rap, and house music! No one had ever heard of this music before! What ideas do you have that can draw attention to you, and make you standout? This is all good and all, but if you do not have good service, good pricing, or go the extra mile to please your customers than you are wasting your time advertising and promoting. You have to have a plan before hand. Even if you are flat broke you can put a plan together and start your ad/promo and build up from there! Did you hear about the Home Theater Company in Orlando Fl that sent high end remote controls to every player at a major golf tournament? This company installed several home theaters to the stars of the golfing community because of this promo! Good lucK! Scorpion Audio, Video, and Security Ah Ha! I advertised again! This would normally get this post deleted. I am only using this as a lesson plan on how you can use things in your environment to make you stand out of the crowd!
