wmcnulty66 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Since I joined this system to my domain it will bog down the network if more than one user is connected to the web cam. What can I change? I've slowed the bandwith in the sever configuration but it's not helping. I'm connecting with broadband and it is shared with three other PC's that use remote desktop to connect to our server at the corporate office. We want to view these cameras but when we cannot run credit cards throught our POS. Help.
rory 0 Posted June 25, 2007 how many cameras are you connecting to at one time? With WebCam and Multiview each camera is a separate connection. Have you tried setting the webcam to H.264? You can set the compression for the webcam separate from the recorded video. This has helped me here with a slow DSL connection. Also set the video quality to low 320x240. Color cameras will require more bandwidth. Also if the color camera is high resolution with alot of detail, even more bandwidth. Have you tested your DVR's upload speed? That is what matters. If they are using any kind of Remote Desktop thats going to make the network slower as well (moreso in full colors), and then streaming video will just bog it down even more. CollinR 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Just wondering, are you saying this did not happen before it joined the domain? ie Only and issue when it is a domain member?
wmcnulty66 0 Posted June 26, 2007 I haven't run it not joined to the domain. Our lead IT guy wants it on the domain for security. I'm not a networking person so I was just going by his lead.
wmcnulty66 0 Posted July 10, 2007 What is a reliable and accurate test for upload speed?
CollinR 0 Posted July 10, 2007 What is a reliable and accurate test for upload speed? Broadbandreports.com ---------------- Are you connecting with remote desktop or the Geovision remote application? If remote desktop, thats probably the issue. RDP was not designed to stream video like that, it can work however it's about the worst way to do it. Over a LAN it's not such a big deal but remotely it's alot to ask, you can render and stream 16 D1 feeds. You might refer your IT guy here so we can better understand the problem. wmcnulty66 0 Posted July 10, 2007 I am veiwing this through webcam. I use remote desktop for changing the settings only. I oly do this when the store is closed as to not tie up the network.
