cctvlad 0 Posted July 18, 2007 how do I build a ip server for analogue cameras all I have yet is a router and a 4 port passive balun the dvr is at the pc card. im quite stuck what do I need to do to get the cams working across the network without actually connecting to the dvr card. Im based in Ireland and starting out as I learn or should i just buy a manufactured all in one ip server. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

chad_cooper 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Video baluns are not for transmitting video across a "network". They are used to transmit video as a 75 ohm signal across unsheilded twisted pair. Some peopel think this is network as they use CAT5 or CAT6 cable. but this is still an analog signal. If your video signals are coming to a computer via an analog signal then you will need some sort of capture card to get that signal into the computer. If what you are trying to do is get four analog siganls on your ethernet network, try an ACTi ACD-2200 four channel encoder. This would put 4 analog cameras right onto the network.
