rory 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Is it just something like VNC or Remote Desktop, or is it more like a remote admin of just the DVR settings? Also, is it available for download anywhere to test out (try before you buy)?
kensplace 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Its like a exact copy of the normal software, but remote. Seems to be faster than using the normal software via xp's remote desktop. Does not work without the dongle, tried it and it just states "cannot find keypro" My geo system is currently down for maintainance (read, replace psu that blew up) but from memory its the same as the normal, apart from something's didnt seem to work (Im sure the main thing I noticed was the events search that lets you see the motion events for the day)
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 This is a nice tool from Geovision. I think that it is not for end users, for remote, I think they are better of with Multiview, but for installers, dealers, support and so on, this is a grat tool for, maintaince, learning/demo, upgrades and so on it will work fine. You get with Remote DVR a more or less 98% of the functions you have when you are locally. But it is much faster then RDP. The remote desktop is genius because it lets you work on the PC even if the GV software is turned off, so you can also do Windows **** on the PC and also upgrade the Geovision software. Error testing and so on! NAT needs to be done on the server site! JD
CollinR 0 Posted July 19, 2007 It seems like VNC that only transmits the Geovision GUI, works pretty well in my opinion.
rory 0 Posted July 20, 2007 ok so I should continue to develop my own then? Basically i dont care about the PC side, all i need sometimes is to change camera titles, settings, DVR name, etc basically i started an app like that already, if there was something free available from Geo then i would just use that .. I am surprised they dont suply Remote Admin for free though, with the DVR card that is.
