License plate capable cameras

What camera recomendations(brand and type in Toronto) for distances of 48, 53 and 58 feet will capture a license plate accurately.

 

The 53 and 57 foot distances are entrance ways so traffic will be slow.

 

The 48 foot distance is a parking lot and cars could be as fast as 30 mph.

Is their a vari-focal motion detectionPTZ that can expand the viewing area if a car / truck is detected?

If you have the budget then you should look at the Extreme CCTV RegView which are maybe the best license plate capture cameras on the market. Very pricey though.

I've seen Pelco Spectra III cameras used to read license plates well over those distances.

Built in Zoom Cameras with "Negative effect" is a good choice for this task.

It is digital effect that shows the picture like a picture film.

It is good for day and night use.

The Panasonic Model WV-CL924 not only has a Color to B/W switchover circuit, but includes smear reduction technology that will reduce the vertical streaks caused by vehicle headlights and license plate lights. The WV-CL924 is well matched to Extreme's IR illuminator Model Super LED, producing IR in the 850 nm range.

 

Don't forget the Aspherical lens with cameras of this type of sensitivity.

 

A lower cost solution can also be the Panasonic Model .WV-CP484 coupled with an Aspherical Lens (about f/0.75 or f/1.0)

 

The Extreme CCTV REG is also an excellent choice and includes data capture of vehicle tags
