Cobalt2112 0 Posted July 31, 2007 Hey Everyone, I'm just getting started with CCTV. I first want to setup a 4-6 camera rig at home using PCI DVR card and a couple of 420tvl in/out cameras. I've been doing a lot of research, but just a bit overwhelming. What card? What camera? Buy or Build!?
scorpion 0 Posted July 31, 2007 I would recommend hiring a local company that can help you through the various componet setups! There is more to learn then what you can learn in a quick over view! If you are on a budget then click on articles at the upper part of your screen. There are some good "How to do" articles to get you started. Then read the section on security cameras, digital video recorder, and Installation help, and accessories, and video control, and transmission. If you have any questions post them here at this thread, and I will get back with you. I hope you enjoy the articles!
photys 0 Posted July 31, 2007 Hey Cobalt Welcome to the board. It occurs to me that you dont stop learning about CCTV. Like any good subject. Just gotta take the plunge on equipment when you think your ready. Take advantage of on-line live demos to get some real-world examples. Google is your friend Demo an Axis 207 online. Its a 1lux 4CIF cam with built in web server and free recording softwear. Plug it into your computer and you got a 1 channel DVR. I grabbed one, plugged it into my laptop and use it for site surveys. Lets me estimate the Lux level and lens needed for the job.
