skane 0 Posted August 18, 2007 I picked up an Arecont AV3130 today. I don't have a PoE switch yet, so I need to use a DC power supply in the interim. From the Arecont spec., the camera is rated for 12V - 48V DC, 4.5W max power consumption. The dealer gave me a 12V, 2 AMP DC power supply. Is it ok to use a DC power supply that exceeds wattage requirement for the camera? Or will I need to get a one that supplies wattage that more closely matches the camera spec? survtech 0 Posted August 18, 2007 The current capability of the power supply doesn't matter as long as it is at least enough to power the camera. You could attach the camera to a 1000 amp power supply if you want. Just make sure you use the correct polarity. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
