need_help_in_FLA 0 Posted August 20, 2007 I am in need of a stand alone system in my home. I have been looking at the avtech/cpcam/nubixLT type DVR. They also offer the ORBIX type DVR. Can anyone tell me who is the orginal manufacturer of ORBIX? Which compression codec is better MPEG4 or JPEG 2000? Which offers better network control? (The DVR will be in a remote location, so all control will be via the network). Are there different DVR solutions? (not looking for PC bases solutions) Thanks, S
Daryl733 0 Posted August 20, 2007 In that case, stay away from AVTech's DVR.
photys 0 Posted August 20, 2007 Which compression codec is better MPEG4 or JPEG 2000? In my limited experience in these types of units: JPEG sharper image bigger files sizes. jerky playback with live internet veiwing MPEG4 Slightly blurred image due to compression artifacts (tweak it out) smaller file sizes. near realtime internet viewing with 1 camera Outside of the US, Avermedia seems to be the popular entry level DVR. Never heard of avtech/cpcam/nubixLT till I visited this forum.
scorpion 0 Posted August 20, 2007 For entry level DVRs I highly recommend the AVTech / CPCam / Nubix DVRs! If budget is the essence, then AVTech is the way to go. Where in Florida are you?
photys 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Never heard of avtech/cpcam/nubixLT till I visited this forum. Sorry, I should add, I hear good things about them in this forum as entry level DVR´s. Just not easily available in my part of europe. Scorpion has great experience in this area, he will look after you well.
