Camera for hallways and backlight

Recommended Posts

I have been reading many posts here over the last week or so. There is a lot of expertise and helpful responses to people’s questions. Maybe someone could recommend a few cameras to me, point me in the right direction.

I am looking for a camera, or a few different cameras, that would work for my situation. I am looking for some thing that would work well in a building with long hallways, say 100' or so. At the end of most of these halls are exits that let in a lot of light. I have been looking at the Speco CVC-870EX. I like the day/night and varifocal abilities coupled with the price. However, I am concerned about possible backlight issues on sunny days I am looking for something in the $200-$350 price range as I am looking to put up 16 cameras.

Any tips, recommendations, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Actually the 870ex is not a real day night camera, it is an Exview low light color. The 7706DNV is a true day night with a mechanical IR cut Filter, slightly higher price. If you still wanted an exview try the CVC-637EX as its almost half the price, fixed lens though:

Or in a Dome:

if not too concerned about lighting or vandals then provideo also has a CVC-646HR High res fixed color dome, not bad picture for the $116 price tag. Its new so hard to locate on the web but dealers are selling them now. 1/3" 3.6mm, 550TVL Color, 0.5 lux.

If you are concerned with the back lighting and want a day night at the same time, take a look at the panasonic day night wide dynamic cameras: Price is higher though::

Or a normal wide dynamic camera like the Ultraview from Kalatel, approx $360:
