a94cobra 0 Posted September 7, 2007 I have my setup done, it works. I used uPnP in the Geovision software to setup the router. But if the router gets rebooted due to a power outage or someone needs to reset the unit or whatever, it looses the firewall settings. Most likely I won't know before hand that this has happened. So I can't easily(quickly) fix the problem remotely. I can remote in to the Geo Machine and open the software and tell it to re-enable the uPnP settings. But that takes a few minutes. So first question, how do you make the Geo software enable the uPnP setting each time it runs. Next someone is going to mention to permanately setup the ports in the firewall setting of the router. Well, this is where the problem started, as this was what I was going to do. But the router only holds 10 user entries. uPnP holds 23 entries. Next question, what routers hold more entries? Or what entries must I have to get the job done and why are there all those other entries that the Geo software enables?
rory 0 Posted September 7, 2007 I always disable UPNP on all Computers, security risk. Also, you could essentially just do this: for example to enable 3 ports in 1 line. 4550-6550 Use TCP/IP Filtering on the DVR so only the actual ports are opened, eg. 4550, 5550, 6550, etc, same with the Windows Firewall. bike_rider 0 Posted September 7, 2007 Geovision uses different ports depending on which of the remote options you are using - web cam, remote from a PDA, 3G remote, multicast server, etc. Unless you are using the full suite, there is a good chance that you only need fewer than 10 ports open anyway.
