drewliebs 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Hi guys, Have an install coming up in a few weeks.. our DVR will be in the main admin building with 7 cameras in that building. the customer also wants to put 9 cameras in the manufacturing bldg across the street (250 feet away LOS).... the problem is that there is no way to physically dig or wire fiberoptic/cat 5 across the street.... is there a wireless solution for streaming the video from the manufacturing bldg to the main admin bldg where the DVR is being housed.....We ideally want everything to be recorded locally, and don't want to use (2) DVR's..... I was looking at northern video's wireless ethernet. has anyone used this, and in what applications does it work???? there is n prexsisting network between the two buildings..... The DVR is an analog, pc based 16 channel unit..... Thanks for the help

scorpion 0 Posted September 8, 2007 They have these rug runners where you can run an extension cord under it, and you do not have to worry about trip hazards. What you do is cut a length the width of the road, and run the siamese under........What? You said you don't want to do this? OK? It would work if you gave it a chance! LOL! I wonder how long it would last with high traffic counts? I would PM Wirelesseye, and get his opinion! http://www.cctvforum.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=443 I would not be much help with wireless! _______________________________________________________ http://www.avalanwireless.com/ http://www.avalanwireless.com/applications.htm http://www.avalanwireless.com/product_list.htm
rory 0 Posted September 8, 2007 So by record locally you mean in the same building as the cameras? How about just viewing the cameras then over the internet with the client software? Or just do a local wireless network and use the client software. 250'? Even a consumer based Wifi could do that, just need to add larger antennas and extend them away from the Access point and repeater as high as they can, like up on the roofs. Usually I quote Avalan or Microtek for ethernet bridges. Both are great companies to work with and make a high quality product.
