Urgent help needed

Recommended Posts

Installing the SM1 microphone and not sure of the connections. The mic end has a round 4 pin connector labeled ABCD and only 2 wireshielded cable needed.

Directions simply say:

A: +5 to 16 power

B: ground

C: ground

D: Audio

I think A and D. Correct?

Interface is three pin block + audio -

Any help appreciated

THanks

A/B You are sending voltage to the mike to power it.

C/D This is your audio coming from the mike, and this is to be connected to your DVR, or what ever it is that you are attaching to.

Are you using 12 volts for your camera power? Then you may want to use 12 volts to power your microphone. You can use a 16/2 wire.

thanks scorpion,

I am using this microphone

http://www.etsnm.com/pdfs/SM1-WBM.pdf

with this recommended interface

http://www.etsnm.com/pdfs/interface_1.pdf

connected to the speco t4ip dvr

using the shielded 2 stranded 22 guage wire they recommended. there is only a black and a white wire and the shielding so I don't know which to connect unless the power is going through the audio strand and the shield is the common ground.

You will be using the black, and the white wire for the audio.

As for the shield, does it have an uninsullated wire with it? If there is a wire with the shield then this would be connected to ground at the dvr end, but at the other end you will not be connecting this shield wire to anything.

If you connect the shielded wire at both end then it defeats the shielding.

This kind of wiring was very common with intercom systems. They have switched to cat 5, and they no longer use the shielded two conductor wire with intercoms systems.
