mrted46 0 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi guys. I will briefly explain my situation. I just purchased a new home which had 4 black and white security cameras and a DVR (very old or cheap system it appears). I did some minor construction to the house and my alarm guy moved the DVR to the basement and when he reconnected the cameras transformers he reversed the polarity and 3 of the 4 cameras went up in smoke. So now I want to purchase 4 new cameras and a new DVR. I am a total newbie to this so please help me out. I would like to keep my budget around $1,000 USD (for the 4 cameras and DVR). I have put a system together but I do not want to post prices or website as I am not sure if this is allowed here. Here it is: 4 X 1/3" Sony SuperHAD Color CCD DSP Waterproof Indoor/Outdoor Infrared Illumination Night Vision Bullet 6.0mm Lens 24 LEDs Camera IP-67 Camera Module UC9636 Image Pick-up Device SONY 1/3"Super HAD CCD sensor Effective Picture Elements NTSC: 510x492, PAL: 500x582 Resolution 420 TVL Minimum Illumination 0.2 Lux / F2.0(Day), 0 Lux (IR on) S/N Ratio More than 48 dB Auto Electronic Shutter NTSC: 1/60s~1/100,000s, PAL: 1/50s~1/110,000s. Auto Gain Control Yes Auto White Balance Yes Gamma Characteristic 0.45 Lens Furnished Board Lens f6.0 mm / F2.0 (optional: 3.6/4.3/8/12/16mm) Synchronous System Internal. Video Output 1 Vp-p / 75 Ohms. Infrared Luminary 24 pieces IR LED Wavelength 850 nm. Illuminate Distance 66 feet (20m) Power consumption IR-LED full on: 6.8 Watt. max., IR Off: 1.5 Watt. max. Power Supply 12V DC +/- 10%. (option: AC24V, AC110~240V) ) Operating Temp. -10C to 50C (14F to 122F) Waterproofing criterion IP-66 1 x 4 CH Triplex 120fps MPEG-4 Network Real Time Digital Video Recorder This DVR has ethernet for internet vieiwing and USB drive for updates. It claims it has 120 FPS which is good (I think). I do not think I need a DVR with CDRW or VGA out. I will upgrade any DVR with a 500gig HD. I will also purchase a 9 camera power box. Please let me know if this is sufficient or if you need more information out of me. Thanks for reading!
Lolo Wolf 0 Posted September 24, 2007 Hello ,there are several dealers here on this forum for gear, but for sure when you say cams went up in smoke you should check all the wire/cable that was inline with your setup as well the outlets involved for any damage before you continue and maybe a good idea to check any other LV or electrical work work done by your "alarm guy"
mrted46 0 Posted September 24, 2007 Hello ,there are several dealers here on this forum for gear, but for sure when you say cams went up in smoke you should check all the wire/cable that was inline with your setup as well the outlets involved for any damage before you continue and maybe a good idea to check any other LV or electrical work work done by your "alarm guy" We did a thorough check on the lines (both coax and power) and they are fine. He reversed polarity on the transformer and it fried. They looked like flimsy cameras. These cameras were working before we did the move (they came with the house). So I am certain this guy just messed up and the cameras being cheap just smoked up and broke. I will check on the forum sponsors for gear. Is there any you recommend within that price range?
