Lee 0 Posted October 2, 2007 I would like to use a GeoVision-800 card for surveillance at my gas station. Would be nice if someone can answer these questions for me. Q1. Is the recording done at full resolution as transmitted by individual cameras? Or is it recorded as a composite of all the cameras joined together? Q2. Does the software allow viewing at full resolution (say 600x400) of individual cameras in playback mode ? I am interested in viewing the full recorded optical image and not an enlargement of the original video. Thanks in advance Lee

Thanks in advance Lee A1: The video from the cameras are in the format that each camera send you, you can have maybe 1 camera 550TVL/440K pixels and another 380TVL/290K Pixels so the camera is then giving you the first good/bad quality sign. When they arrive the Geovision compression card the video will be compressed into either 320X240, 640X480 or 720X576, all camera channels have settings themself. So you can choose to have 320x240 on camera 1 and 720X576 on camera 2 and so on. So it will not be like some systems that have recorded 1 "screen" with 4 camera channels on that one, but Geovision is 1 channel is stored in 1 channel. A2: Yes, Geovision will allow you to look at channel 1 in 320X240 and camera 2 in 720X576 and so on when you playback. For a Gas station, this is just an example and may not be suitable for you but anyway: 1. A high resolution camera for the entrance, be aware of backlight! 2. A high resolution camera(s) behind the counter(s). 3. Mid or high resolution cameras instore for overview and focus on high valuble goods. 4. A high resolution Day/Night overview camera(s) for outside the station. 5. High res cameras for reading lisence plates from "tank and run". 6. A day/Night camera outside staff entrance with a monitor on the inside of the door to "check" if someone is waiting for them on the other side! 7. Cameras for storeage space, service hall, washing hall etc. 8. Hidden camera in connection with safe/tobacco/high value goods in storage. just a tip, not a bible! Lee 0 Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks JD for your clear, clean and prompt reply. That helps clear a little fog on recording issues. The tip on camera placement was an eye-opener. Next question where do I find a genuine Geovision-800 and what do these cost? I have been geovisioning on EBay. Lots of sellers. Many with doubtful credentials.... copied cards, copied software, doubtful support... Once again thanks in advance. Lee
