Arm Electronics License Plate Camera C480LPIR 120?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone please tell me if they have ever used this camera to read License Plates and if so, How did you get it work,. For example what was your shutter speed set at? How many frames per second did you set for that camera and the hight and angle of the camera....Please Help...Seasoned but stumped and fairly new to plate cameras. I know that Extreme CCTV make good plate cameras but their expensive so thats why I chosse the Arm Camera it was about $650 compared to over $1000. for the Extreme.

got it, works pretty good. settings?

- dip; 1 on, 23 off

- white clicker; 5

- yellow adjustment screw; this is your exposure.

pros:

- gets 85 - 90% of the plates.for the money spent it's ok.

- nice camera/lense combo.clean pic

- enclouser is nice, weatherproof & climate

cons:

- transition time (sensor) from dusk to dawn and back does not adjust and you will have some extremely dark pics when the light is low and camera has gone into the day mode, or has gone into the night mode. a smart guy could have should have put an adjustable sensor in so you can adjust it for different conditions. ie: camera installed under or near another light source will cause you problems with the camera going into the day mode.

- resellers don't have a clue outside of the manual provided. I was told it is built overseas...........go figure.

- camera needs power, all it can get. I initally had it connected to 12VDC and it was not stable at night (high power usage) switched to 24vac and it was fine. use heavier power lines.

- had one camera that the power change did nothing on 12vdc or 24vdc. good thing I know electronics as I opened it up and did some tracing and I found a cold solder joint.resoldered it and it was fine.

check out the extreme reg-x lpr.............just a bit more than.......and most likey worth it..down side.close range only.

and recheck ARM, I was shopping around for this camera last week and got some "discontinued" chatter on it.
