501 0 Posted October 9, 2007 So it's been talked about a lot but there was no proof for these frame rates so I spent the morning doing tests. GV800 Card-16, New system with Intel board, P4 3.0Ghz Processor, 1GB Ram, 4 Color Cameras set to record 24/7 with Geo H.264 compression. I then tried all the different video sources and recorded both with motion happenning and no motion and counted the frames for every camera for both motion and non. Interestignly enough, when I first started, the other channels (5~16) said video lost (before I disabled them) and this lowered the count by 25%. So the results were: Resolution-------Per Cam-------Total 320X240---------30fps-----------120fps 640X480---------12~14fps-------48~56fps 640X480 D/I-----25~27fps------100~108fps 720X480---------11~13fps-------44~52fps 720X480 D/I-----23~24fps------92~96fps Kind of what I expected. This is in no way official and I think with only 4 cameras connected, it's a best case scenario, but at least it's something to look at. After i was done I did some more testing with different codecs (Geo Mpeg4 and ASP). Guess what, totally different results. 320 - 30fps each 640 - 20~22 fps 640DI - 30fps Interesting, I guess the H.264 saves a lot of space but also records a lot less frames, hence so much more recording time. I use H.264 at home a nd noticed the video doesn't seem as smooth as it used too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
