elmayimbe_01 0 Posted October 11, 2007 HELLO ALL: I NEED YOUR EXPERTISE. I HAVE A SYMDEC 4 DVR, CONNECTED TO A LINKSYS ROUTER AND CABLEVISION AS MY BROADBAND SERVICE, I AM TRYING TO CONFIGURE BOTH MY DVR AND MY ROUTER TO ENABLE ME TO CONNECT INTO MY DVR FROM THE WEB, I FORWARDED THE PORT, I ENTERED THE GATEWAY ADDRESS FROM MY ROUTER INTO MY DVR, BUT I AM STILL UNABLE TO CONNECT. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT I'M DOING WRONG, OR WHAT I SHOULD BE DOING? CAN YOU ALSO GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF HOW I SHOULD BE TYPING IN THE ADDRESS ON THE BROWSER? ANY AND ALL HELP WILL BE GREATELY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU ALL.
photys 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Did you port forward to the DVR's fixed IP address? Which port did you forward to. If 80, try another number. Remember to change it in the DVR too. Locally use: http://192.168.1.13:1300 13 being the DVR 1300 being the port remotely use: http://MyIPaddress:1300 MyIPaddress being your WAN IP address or DDNS server Use this as a rough guide: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10118

metafizx 0 Posted October 15, 2007 with some ndvrs you have to port forward more than one port. there is usually the http port (80) and maybe a control port. make sure you are putting in the correct LAN IP address in the dvr, and have that same ip address in the port forward section of the router. also you may have to reboot your router (unplug and plug back in) to get it to recognize the port forward. additionally if you have dynamic IP service (which is usually the case for home users) then you will have to setup DDNS (Dynamic DNS) to keep track of the IP. most new routers will handle DDNS. hope this helps. elmayimbe_01 0 Posted October 15, 2007 Thank you, my Linksis router just died on me this weekend. Funny how hardware like this dies 2 months after the warranty expires. But, the moment I pick up the new one I will give it a try. You guys have been a great help. I really appreciate it. I'll definetely keep you posted. Thanks again.
