kuocyj 0 Posted October 23, 2007 I have read many posts here and learned a lot. Really appreciate. I got a question about the color on my outdoor camera. I installed a Hi-Res. outdoor camera AVC872 with a 5-50mm DC auto-iris lens. Everything looks perfect at night, but the color is like washed out and the image become blurry at day time. I have tried all the switches on the camera, but still ugly under sunshine. why is that happened? Is there anything I could do on the camera or lens? or just return it to my supplier? Thank you JK
Metal Shaper Man 0 Posted October 24, 2007 It sounds like the camera has no IR cut filter which would make the color image look faded. It also sounds like the going out of focus problem could be due to focus shift. To avoid focus shift you should focus the camera in a low lighted environment or use a number five welding mask glass over the lens.
kuocyj 0 Posted October 24, 2007 yes, it is a day&night camera, no IR cut filter inside. the camera was installed at an open space, so it's really bright out there when weather is good. We only have problem with that camera at daytime. If I use a #5 welding mask glass on camera, is the camera still able to see things at night? many thanks[/img]
Metal Shaper Man 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Sorry if I didn’t make myself clear. You only need to place the #5 welding glass over the lens while focusing the camera. After you are done focusing then, remove the #5 glass. If you don’t want to use the welding glass then focus the camera at near dark or dusk. You should focus a camera with an auto iris lens in this way in order to prevent focus shift. I still think your color problem during the day is due to not having an IR cut filter.
