Ally 0 Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) I need your help.... Do you know if there are any cases where UK courts have ruled on the use of dummy cameras? I'll elaborate a bit.... I seem to recall a case (not sure whether it was criminal or civil) where a member of the public was attacked. A dummy camera had been installed in the area and the member of the public either sued because no one came to her aid, or the judge commented on the use. Cooperman 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Hi Ally, You don't actually say in what context 'the use of dummy cameras', but that said, I'm not aware of any court cases where their use has been brought up for legal interpretation. As dummy cameras are purely intended to act as a visual deterrent, they either work or they don't (in deterring that is ). As regards existing legislation (Data Protection Act, RIPA, Human Rights etc.) it's hard to see where any court could be asked to make a legal judgement on something as inactive as a house brick!
