SkyVision, NetVision, HikVision .. WhichVision?

Many members and guests to the forum hear these names mentioned on occasion, and perhaps some have used them, or other software that uses HikVision cards.

 

Please post any reviews here, so that others might get a better idea of what is what. Also please list your general location (eg. North America, Europe, etc). Manufacturers, please refrain from posting though as we are looking for end user opinions at this time.

Good post Rory. It seems that the resellers are quick to reply to questions with sales propganda but it doesn't seem to many people post actual experience with the systems.

 

I have used ILDVR (Hikvision cards) and didn't care for the software at all. Quality was OK but I had much higher expectations for Hardware compression cards.

Skyvision is a software company that are professional to develop the advanced H.264 real time digital surveillance products, it has the IDVR , NBV6, NVR and NVMS application software not only on the Hikvision cards but also on its own hardware compression cards . The software is developed integrated into the Axis ip camera .

 

Netvision is one of the software producers that use hikvision cards and also the ILDVR,i think it uses the same cards .

 

Hikvision manufactures the hardware DVR cards , stand alone DVR and other relative products. but they havent own software on the DVR cards now ,so it cooperates with software companies.

 

There are also some companies that named xxxvision, but not sure they used hikvision cards and software.

I am not a end user, but I test many different softwares like:

 

Geovision, Kodicom, Avermedia, IVMS, Skyvision, Core4, JoinPro, Netvision.

 

Here are my 2 cents or 5!

 

Geovision, probably the strongest software of these brands, but software based compression and price is way to high, strong support and very nice people! Both sales and support! But as I said the total package of software/dvr card and software compression is to high priced! Taiwan based, challenges copy/clone cards from China that is stealing some business away from them.

 

Kodicom, also software based compression, software not so good, sales/support I dont know so much. Korean based. Low price and quality is not the best.

 

Avermedia, Geovision most similar competitor on the domestic market in Taiwan, seems to be more or less at the same level as Geovision in a way I am pretty sure these two companies is keeping an eye on eachother. Product is probably just below Geovision level. Current pricing I am not sure of.

 

IVMS - Hikvision own software, it as a stylish/modern look, most of the features you will need, simple to use, except a few things that is not so logical, uses Hardware compression cards and price is good. Hikvision has been the H264 locomotive and without Hikvision I am not sure we would still have had to wait 2 more years for H264. Nice people, both sales and support!

 

Skyvision-CSST Hikvision based DVR cards in other words hardware compression. Software is ok, has the basic features and some extra. Software is OEM by many "Chinese Manufactures" that both manufactures the Hikvision cards, DVR software and a wide range of cameras in their 100sqm offices.

 

Core4 -JDLDS a OEM from a not so well known Chinese company, the chinese version softwares are probably better then the english due langauge barriers. Core4 is a ok software with most features available and also a few that not so many others have like support for Mozilla/Firefox/Chrome webclients, and snapshots from http://ip.adress.com/cameranumber.

Uses also Hikvision hardware based compression cards.

 

JoinPro - JOIN a chinese based software widely used in goverment projects, this software has gotten to old, uses hikvision hardware compression cards and others. The software has so many features that if you want to really learn the software you would need to take 1 month of teaching yourself, everything from video surveillance to controlling elevators and the music in elevators and so much more, but now time has based by. Maybe the future will bring some Freedom! Very nice people as well, but have had in the past trouble of get problems fixed!

 

I saved Netvision to the last because I would say that this is my choice, about right priced, maybe to cheap? Hikvision DVR cards and others, supports major IP brands, supports 64-bit OS software. Very nice people and very good support, if I should say 1 negative thing, the GUI is looking a bit eastern/old fashioned in the west, but what to we know, maybe in the east it is looking modern!

 

Many of these software runs on the same cards, that means you can buy 1 card and then buy or maybe ask for 1 free license for your card for testing. Then you can play, fail, learn and get to know all the systems by yourself and then find the one that fancy you, since we all have different ways to look at things!

 

But if I would make all decsions, it would be this: Hikvision DVR card, and then a new software based on Geovision/Joinpro and Netvision!

I am also wondering why the forum dont have a Hikvision sub since they are the second largest DVR manufacture in the world, maybe the largest, hard to say how much ADI/Honeywell have of OEM!

I am an end uses. and my first choice is netvision. I am the director of surveillance of a small poker room in southern California. we have used Netvision for the last three years and no complaints. The picture quality is perfect the software is user friendly and there support has been good. we stumbled on Netvision by taking a demo from Aventura after thorough research we found there supplier cutting them off and started building our own.we have a few different DVR,S that are currently being used Geovision that are not for casino grade use and the worst gold beam thank god they went out of business. I have been so happy with netvision that I have started a small business building them.nothing but good thing to say and Candy on the sales has been very helpful .

I second JOINDVR's idea of a separate Hikvision Forum!

 

Like JOINDVR, I am not an end user... I just sell Aver/Geovision and now Hikvision w/Netvision software. I love both Aver and Geo for the most part. I would really like to try Aver's new Hardware Compression card and compare it with Hikvision.

 

As to Netvision, when used with Hikvision, it is awesome in video quality. The .jpg exports are really good. I just caution anyone in using the software if they anticipate actual security events they need to save. There is no export to .avi, which is a big drawback. You can back up with it's own player, which is not real easy to use for the average client.

 

I look at any DVR/NVR solution without a simple export to .avi with common codec as being somewhat half finished. Maybe william_netvisiondvr has some comment on future developement in this area.

Too much information may be too complex. But thank you all the same.

Now we don't take care what to eat. Spring Festival becomes a day that make most of our friends and relatives gather together. However, the customs are different at different locations.

There is no export to .avi, which is a big drawback.

I look at any DVR/NVR solution without a simple export to .avi with common codec as being somewhat half finished.

 

Now with version 6.38(OEM) or 5.38(netvision) you can now export to AVI or MPEG4 directly.

Another new feature that is worth mentioning (at least for me) is the automatic back up. You can choose to back up motion or sensor recording only and have it saved to an external or network drive.

Thanks for the heads up. When I get a chance, I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the 5.38 from my distributor. I only have 5.36 right now.

 

Funny thing though, the way I have it set up now, I don't think my client will even bother, because they have gotten so used to the alternative method I have created for them.

 

I installed a VGA card that has S-Video NTSC out. That goes to a Panasonic consumer DVD recorder, and I have a NTSC composite monitor hooked up to the DVD recorder. What they do now is they find the spot they want to start recording, and go full screen playback while hitting the record button on the DVD-R. It really is amazing simple, and the quality coming out of the SVHS out is very good (which surprised me). The bottom line is, they don't have to export to AVI, and then use another DVD-R authoring program. Now they just hit RECORD, and then STOP. Finalize the DVD and give it to the prosecutor.

 

With the .avi export, I will still have to have them learn another program to get it to a true DVD, which is what everybody seems to want for easy viewing.
