dzpw0p 0 Posted November 9, 2007 I have a Linux DVR system with "Eyelinker" remote software. Basically a thick client which gives me functionality of the DVR system remotele. The software appears to only support an IP address for remote viewing. I set up DynDNS successfully - works great. The intention of course to save some dollars from a static IP. I set up DynDNS in the router so it knows to update the service when the WAN ip changes. In short, I am good to go with my hostname. I can access the DVR remotely if I use the dynamic IP entry in EyeLinker, but of course the problem is that IP changes. Has anyone used Eyelinker? Can it work with a hostname instead? If not, is there a different remote access s/w package that I can use as an alternative? Thank you in advance!
galaxy60 0 Posted November 9, 2007 You will need to setup a VPN connection using your Domain Name to connect to your router once the VPN is connected you can access your DVR via its local LAN IP address I would stongly recommend Draytek routers the VPN software is free and will work very well www.draytek.co.uk
