zaf 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Hi, I've just found this forum, and its a great wealth of knowledge! I've been using/installing geovision since 2000, but have never had to go above 16 cams. I have a job atm, which requires 27-30 cams. I haven't used cv2 or cc yet, but have a good idea how they work. (I think!) I have some questions about the web server. What is the easiest way for the customer to monitor all the cams offsite? Web server is not an option, as the server will only serve one lot of 16 from each system. So is cv2 or cc the only option for a simple monitoring sloution? How can the customer monitor any of the 30 cams without installing software on a pc? Thanks, Andrew. cctv_down_under 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Why would the web server only serve 16 cams...not sure I understand, you can connect to multiple Geo boxs from the one Internet Explorer application.. why cant you just connect to both box's from the one page? zaf 0 Posted November 18, 2007 you could connect to both boxes from one ie page, but two web servers on one connection would have to use different ports. This would make it difficult for the end user? Hence, does cv2 or cc have a webserver that would do all 30 cams?
rory 0 Posted November 18, 2007 You can just dump the ActiveX control into any webpage, anywhere on the web. In the control's parameters you can set the IP, Ports, User, Pass, etc, for each one, individually. In that type of situation, the HTTP port does not matter and neither does Geo allow that to be set, all that needs to be changed are the Data Ports if there are multiple DVRs on the same IP address. Unfortunately though, as it is an ActiveX control something must still be installed on the PC. They have a Java app but it is extremely unstable where many applets (one for each camera/site) on the same page would typically crash the browser. As it is, I just put up a page last night with 25 ActiveX Controls in one IE page (25 way multi site), and though it worked, it was rather slow and IMO unstable, perhaps memory issues with IE and the amount of ActiveX Controls that can be loaded into it, as I have had success with 64 of them in my own non browser app.
