Live: Barney colours / Recorded: Perfect colours .. why?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I posted a little while ago about having to set up a 16 cam system for a client of mine. First setup having stuck to telephone and network systems up to now. I've built a PC:

DVR Card: Viewgate 48016EX

Asus motheroard (Intel P35 Chipset)

Asus AT Radeon HD2400 Pro

1G Kingston DDR2 Ram (2x512)

Seagate Drive

XP Pro

Installed the latest drivers for everything on a fresh install of the OS (Obviously, I just built it )

Anyway ..

Everything went perfectly smoothly EXCEPT for one thing. I launched the interface for the card and boom. It's up. Awesome, EXCEPT the live view is strictly purple and green. Again, LITERALLY only purple and green.

Very odd, especially considering when I play back the recorded video, it's flawless!

Why would the live view be seriously "Barney-fied" when it actually records perfectly fine?!?

I seriously need to have this setup and ready to roll ASAP .. but I keep getting into one stumbling block after another. I've already had to go through two video cards. First one was nVidia .. not compatible apparently. Took it back to get an ATI but it had a fan when the site claimed it was suppose to be passively cool. Had to take THAT back too. Now this is my third video card. Crazy.

I guess it's just Murphy's Law. Any info about the strange purple/green colours during live view would be GREATLY appreciated. Why it has to be exactly purple and green, I don't know.

Thanks a bazillion!

EDIT: By the way, forgot to mention, it also happens to work when I use the video out from the DVR card. So it seems to be a hardware overlay problem (which is what I've originally assumed) but how would I fix this? I tried adjusting the "hardware acceleration" options for the video card to no avail. There must be some setting which I could play around with to adjust the colours - no? Or am I totally thinking the wrong way here? Thanks!

Just returned the new ATI card in exhange for an older Sapphire x1650. Driving me crazy here. They have to special order this card in and should be here in a few days or so. I wasn't expecting it to require all these hard to find parts. I was thinking I could just get good quality parts and be set. Apparently I was wrong. Oh well, can't wait to get this all working finally!
