Jimlyn 0 Posted October 13, 2004 Can anyone bring me up to speed on permits and the license requirement for installation of CCTV and burglar alarms in NJ? I presently have an application in with the state of NJ for my "Alarm Installers License" which is now becoming mandatory. I have been told that I will not hear anything untill November due to their backlog. I do not have an "electrical license" and it seems towns are requiring an electrical license for these installations. I have a leasee of a small commercial building wanting a burglar alarm and CCTV switcher installed and apparantly I need a permit but how to handle the possible license requirement. Am I dead in the water? Thanks for the response.
qman 0 Posted December 22, 2004 for CCTV, you don't need a licence, but you do for alarms, and any other low voltage job, you need a low-voltage licence, it's called "L6 licence". I'll get more info posted soon.
