BenScoobert 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Following damaged and stolen fuel from my truck, I have decided to place some cameras. From my house to the truck is a little too far to run wifi and ir. I have had a talk with a restaurant which overlooks where I park, they have agreed and already considered cctv. So I have 2 wireless routers already. My main router and pc is at the far side of my house from the restaurant and I couldn't get wifi range, however my bedroom window overlooks the restaurant and is within range of the other end of my house where the main pc is. What i need help with is I have never touched cctv before. I need cameras that can see low light and will be mounted externally, the restaurant owner wants visible but discreet cameras. I live in england and rain is frequent. The distance from my bedroom window to the restaurant is about 20m to one corner, the other corner is out of site and i'm not sure I will get range. Can anyone advise of decent kit for a job like this, also what do i need besides 4 cameras? Thanks Ben
SureVeillance 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Ben, sounds like quite a challenge. I know this is a CCTV forum, but did you consider adding an alarm to your truck with a motion sensor and locking gas cap? If you go the CCTV route, you may spend a lot of time and money and then not be able to identify the person in the dark using wireless cameras. But to answer your question specifically, besides the camera(s), you will need a means of recording the images - most likely a PC based solution but if you scan the forum you will see a lot of good advice on solutions. user1 0 Posted December 4, 2007 If he's agreed then wouldn't you put the whole system in the restaurant....then you just use Internet access to get to 1 or 2 cameras with your Internet connection going back to his.
