Pixim Orca chip

Recommended Posts

I was part of a team that brought a camera out based on the first Pixim chipset and was very familiar with that chipset, however I left before Orca became available. I may be biased but in my opinion Pixim had the best technology for WDR at that time but as it was new technology it did have some teething problems with how it worked in certain scenes and low light was never going to match CCD. Orca was supposed to address those areas and I was really looking forward to it.

That being said I have never seen one as I left CCTV awhile back!

We tried the Pelco with Pixim chip dome... not that impressive, can't tweak to get the shot you are after.

We tried the Intellicam Pixum chip box camera... works but died in the field (two different cameras)

We do use the Everfocus EQ600 a lot and have never had a problem, you can tweak this camera to actually get the shot you are after... and that shot is looking straight out a door or window and still be able to see the individual walking through the door and the cars outside in the parking lot.

Samsung WDR does not use the Pixum chip and it does show... everything seems to have a haze in the picture. If you do some research on this subject, and individual did a wonderful job of explaining what the camera is doing and why the haze is there.

So in a nutshell... the chipset might be in the camera but the camera has a big play in the matter.

Good luck and just my .02 worth of what I have seen in the field

Thanks for the input, we have three we are testing and comparing to the GE, so far they all do better than the GE.

Been a while since I have looked around here, just found out Everfocus is bringing a dome with the wide dynamic feature... looking forward to it.

So what is the conclusion on the EQ600 vs the GE. Do you still like it?
