doSecurity 0 Posted December 1, 2007 there are Passive RS485-RS232 Convertor ,that don`t need Power adaptor. and there are also Active RS485-RS232 Convertor, which needs Power for work. for your request, image there are something wrong about the Control data, suggest re-setting the protocol of PTZ and DVR. ronbo 0 Posted December 1, 2007 thanks for reply right so i guess mine does require power. how would i find out the right protocal for this camera? is it something to do with the dip switch.
doSecurity 0 Posted December 1, 2007 open your User`s Manual, there must be something abuot the protocol the PTZ can support. take AVTECH for an example, 1,select the desired channel of installed PTZ Camera, 2,set ID Number (0-225) of the PTZ Camera, 3,choose Protocol for the PTZ Camera, 4,set the Baud rate of each channel 5,after setting ,press "OK" and then press "APPLY" to confirm. wish it will help. survtech 0 Posted December 1, 2007 You definitely need to make sure you use the same communication parameters in both the control and the PTZ. You need to set: Protocol (Pelco "P" and "D" are common)Baud Rate (usually 2400 or 4800)Parity (O/odd, E/even or N/None) (usually N/none)Address (usually 1 for a single PTZ but some protocols allow a "0" which changes the address setting on the dip switches) Also make certain you have connected the control wires correctly. You should be using twisted-pair. CAT-5 is not strictly neccessary; for years I used 22/2 shielded and it works fine. You must, however, connect them properly: Transmit (TX) at the controller to Receive (RX) at the PTZ(+) to (+) and (-) to (-).
ronbo 0 Posted December 3, 2007 ive tryed all that and many other settings but im starting to thing there may be a problem with my rs485/323 converter any way of testing this do you know?
doSecurity 0 Posted December 4, 2007 you`d better change a good RS232-RS485 for testing,if the PTZ work well, everything will be clear. possbily the RS232-RS485 Convertor is not so easy to broken.
