Mark 0 Posted October 17, 2004 Hi, Just joined the forum to try to find some help with building a 4 camera PC recorder. I will be installing 4 cameras around the house and garden, so considering a GV250. Will the GV600 or GV650 offer any advantage ? The PC will run XP pro. Not sure on PC spec yet. I have an Asus TUS motherboard and P3 1.4ghz that is spare, or should I use a faster P4 CPU ? Any suggestions appreciated Thanks, Mark.
CCTVINSTALLER 0 Posted October 20, 2004 Hi, For 1-4 cams we've always used GV600-4, mainly due to the faster frame rates, and its not a massive expense. Some guys on this forum would also recommend for you to go with an 8 way system, so you can add additional cameras if you ever had to. Personally we've never needed to expand for home use. Xp PRo will do but you could always save a few quid and go for Xp Home, Pro won't offer much advantage over home edition as your only running a gv600 system. As far as spec goes, im not an expert yet but 1.3GHz should do for GV250-600, make sure you use a good PSU and RAm, we've experienced loads of faults latelydue to cheapo PSUs. Also use a good graphics card, so you can run a coax and watch from your TV.
