murfandsurf 0 Posted December 15, 2007 I am looking for a PTZ that is day/night/infared AND has to be RF controlled. Has anyone seen such a creature or at least close to a color PTZ that performs well at night in low light conditions and is RF controlled. Thanks for your help guys!! murfandsurf 0 Posted December 16, 2007 let me give some reasoning for my needs. I want 2 to 3 PTZ's on my home that I can easily control from my couch and my bed. I do not want big ugly control panels around nor do I want a laptop. I can't beleive that nobody has a quality RF controlled PTZ! This has to be a huge hole in the market. Any help or links to products will be much appreciated. I could not find anything via Yahoo except the Platinum PT-351 V49 which states not to use more than one of these cameras. VST_Man 1 Posted December 17, 2007 ok, you can install a Avermedia "dvr" and use the remote IR unit option. add a rf IR extender and you can sit in your lazyboy and remote your cams all day long......from multiple TV's as the rf IR extender works out to 100ft. kiss................ oh, the rf controlled PTZ always seem to be very cheap and "stupid" fly me in for xmas, put me under your tree, and I'll even install it for you Merry Xmas........y'all
murfandsurf 0 Posted December 18, 2007 Good idea! Can you recommend a specific 4 channel model? What is your favorite PTZ?
VST_Man 1 Posted December 18, 2007 build it; Dell Vostro 200 mini tower (not the slim), 2.33 C2D, XP Home, 80 Gb OS drive, 250 Storage, standard video, standard audio; NV5000, 4VIEXT card, 4AUEXT card, and the NVDOSDKIT ki; hereis the RF IR remote http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/remote-controls/wireless-rf-remote-control-extender the above gets you a 8 channel, 4 audio, rf ir controlled PC DVR. You can also go with the EB1304NET, 4 channel budget.but the higher end allows you lots of flex with some bells and whistels......the RF/IR is slick! favorite PTZ? I like the mini 10X day nights...you get a pretty good PTZ for the money spent.........you will also need a data converter for the PTZ that connects to the comm port on your PC that connects to the PTZ control......after that you'll be sitting in your living room viewing your video input from the above DVR and controlling it via your Rf package. I installed the above for a client.............they love it and it works great. he has the vidio output running into a 42" LCD.sweet pic.
murfandsurf 0 Posted December 19, 2007 Thanks VST MAN. Forgive me if this is a dumb question.......Where can I find specs for this RF-IR set up? I have looked at the DVR specs and it does not mention any remote RF-IR capabilities. I always control cams through a Crestron touchpanel so this DVR thing is new to us. VST_Man 1 Posted December 19, 2007 it's an option on the Avermedia install..........IR receiver connects into the USB port and remote is used to controll PC/DVR......got aver.com and you'll find info on it. another way to do it is to get a remote mouse and extend the receiver via usb.did it today...work fine. Aver software has a virtual keyboard...........
rory 0 Posted December 20, 2007 most DVRs now come with remotes so can do as VST recommended. did you say outdoor or indoor with IR? http://www.acutvista.com.tw/Indoor-PT.htm Also, could grab an old PocketPC then use the network software to control it using wifi .. Or check on some IP cameras ... they may have remotes as well.
murfandsurf 0 Posted January 1, 2008 Thanks Rory, I am looking for outdoor IR PTZs. I might end up using fixed separate IR lamps because the ptzs with ir have clear domes and the perps can see where the cam is looking. Can anyone post a link for more details on using the DVR to control pan, tilt, zoom for the PTZs?? Thanks again for all of your help.
Lolo Wolf 0 Posted January 1, 2008 Did a simple RF control set up for a client that wanted to control Mini PTZ located at his drive gate, the parts were as follows: 1 CNB wireless remote controller IRC100 (hand held remote), RS-485 Control reciever spliced into RS484 on main controller located in basement pointed at with RadioShack wireless remote control extender (Model 15-1950) IR RF unit placed in bedroom upstairs (app 80ft no los) with additional RadioShack recv located in kitchen. PTZ modulated with other cams thru house on all TVs. PTZ is used for monitor only, His DVR is hardwired with static cams (Extreme EX14s and UF100s) The Mini PTZ has IRcut and the IRs for the static cams is picked very nice by the Mini as a added plus. Just a simple solution for RF control without all the bells and whistles if you want to go that route.
