tommyt 0 Posted December 19, 2007 Hi Hoping someone can help shed some light on this: I want to put up a camera on the front door linked to a small screen inside, which switches on for a few seconds when the doorbell is pressed allowing you to see the visitor before opening the door. Not need for recording, just plain monitoring. Has anyone tried this or know how to go about it? Thanks
CollinR 0 Posted December 19, 2007 Use an automotive LCD that runs on 12v and switch it with an Elk doorbell/phone ring detection module and a relay. Really though it's best just to leave the thing on, better yet feed it a quad so you can see around corners and such.
tommyt 0 Posted December 19, 2007 Great, thanks for that. I'll see if I can locate one of those modules. I'm guessing the design will have to incorporate some sort of relay for the delay (i'm not too good with PCBS/ circuits so excuse me).
CollinR 0 Posted December 19, 2007 http://www.elkproducts.com/products/elk-930.htm Might help you, I sell them but I'm more then google will net you. However if bought from me, I'll make sure you get it working. As I said though, you are better off leaving it on 24/7.

Grimgrak 0 Posted January 15, 2008 Why is leaving it on 24/7 better than the couple seconds u need it for?
