CameraGenius 0 Posted December 19, 2007 I have a cabin in colorado and want to be able to dial into a device and either view a live camera or snapshots of 1 camera that is pointed on my front yard. The cabin is located in a place that has no way of getting internet from any of the companys in that area. Does anybody know of any way to use a cell phone for this? Some device that can be setup and email me snapshots of the camera? Any help is much appreciated, thanks. Any ideas are welcome =)

survtech 0 Posted December 20, 2007 You can use some cell phones with a USB cable to get internet service, though it may be a little slow (typically 128k). Here are some links: http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/usingyourphone/a/cellmodem.htm http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum45/435.htm http://cellphones.about.com/cs/buyersguides/a/wireless_data.htm

TK 0 Posted December 26, 2007 Is there any way of getting wireless access at the cabin? I know we have wireless access that gets roughly the same coverage as cell phones. With that you can hook up an IP camera to the wireless modem/receiver and access the camera that way.

sinbad 0 Posted December 28, 2007 We use AT&T USB Aircard (Sierra 875U) and it works pretty good in our area, however that depends on the company network covarage in your area. might be too slow up there. but you can try it for 30 days
Soundy 1 Posted January 17, 2008 You didn't put any cost constraints on it, so... have you considered satellite internet? Lots of providers out there: http://www.google.com/search?q=colorado+satellite+internet
heloder 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Kyocera KR1 Mobile EVDO Wireless Router http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3246546&Sku=K07-1000&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&CMP=OTC-GOOGLEBASE These work well. You could use with an IP Camera and a PCMCIA cell card. I recomend this IP camera. http://www.saysecurity.com/marketing/DVW1430.pdf
